Test tooling development
To ensure product quality, an effective approach to product testing is key, both during development and production. In many cases, testing during development and production testing are considered separately.
At Zign, we have developed an integrated approach and system for product testing spanning both development and production. With this system, we build our test sets during development and we can deploy these same test sets later in production. This reduces costs significantly and ensures that all critical functions are tested properly. Furthermore, our system keeps detailed records of tests through all phases. This data can be analysed an reported on. When our system is deployed in production, we can provide detailed test results of all products leaving the factory.
Our integrated test approach can be described in three modules, which work together through the Zign test framework Continuous (integration (CI) testing, Functional Circuit Tests (FCT) and End of Line (EOL) tests for your DUTs (Device Under Test).
Continuous integration
At Zign we have developed our own Jenkins based- build- server which is able to continuously test any code that is under development. It allows us to test any code changes on the most recent version of your Hardware device, whether that is a POC (Proof of Concept), development kit or a final version of your PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly). During development, any code changes are run through a series of designed tests that continuously test the performance of our code and whether the design still meets our customer’s set requirements. This enables us to spot any bugs and issues early and allows us to focus on the thing that matter: getting your product done in time!

Functional circuit tests
Functional circuit tests are important to test the functionality of a PCBA before it gets assembled into the product. It tests whether all components are placed correctly onto the PCB and whether they behave as expected. This detects any problems with solder connections, faulty sub chips and any missing pick and place components. It also is a perfect moment to flash the firmware, add security certificates and add any personalisation of the chips. With the help of our partners who can produce a pin-bed casing, we help to pick the equipment necessary to test the PCB to its full capabilities. At Zign we have developed a special test protocol that eases the development of a testing communication interface. With a list of requirements in mind, we design a test plan and are able to implement these tests which provide an extensive database during development of all testing results. This increases your traceability in the factory and allows for easy adaptability during the lifetime of your project.
End of line tests
The End of Line test occurs quite literally at the end of the production line. It is meant to test whether your product behaves as expected once it is assembled. This could be to detect whether any lenses are positioned correctly, whether any glue has compromised the functionality of the PCB, whether the cables are connected properly and any other assembly related issue. Together with our product design partners we can develop a test setupwhich allows for easy product placement to test sub- and total assemblies. Our end of line tests use the same Zign produced test protocol that allows for easy adaptation of the test plan and provides full traceability during the lifetime of the product.
Guaranteed product quality
At Zign we approach every project to get the highest possible quality and apply continuous integration during development and are able to design and develop you FCT and EOL tests. Do you want an expert opinion on whether these tests can ease you mind?
